Product Overview
This cyclonic air pre-cleaner is a purpose-built intake pre-filtration component designed for Hyundai Robex R55 and R60-7 compact excavators. It mounts on top of the main air filter housing as the first stage of the engine intake system, removing large-sized dust, sand and debris from incoming air before it reaches the primary filter element.
Core Operational Benefits
For excavators working in dusty job sites such as earthmoving, quarrying, demolition and dry land grading, intake air quality directly determines engine service life and maintenance frequency. This pre-filter delivers measurable value for fleet operation:
Extends main air filter lifespan: By capturing over 70% of large particulate matter at the pre-filtration stage, it significantly reduces the loading rate of the primary air filter, lengthens replacement intervals and cuts routine maintenance costs.
Protects engine internal components: Reduces the risk of fine dust bypassing the main filter and entering the combustion chamber, which would otherwise cause accelerated wear on cylinder liners, piston rings and valve trains, and shorten engine overhaul cycles.
Stabilizes intake airflow: The optimized internal flow path maintains steady air supply efficiency, avoids premature filter clogging caused by heavy dust, and supports consistent engine power output during long shifts.
Reduces downtime risk: In high-dust working environments, a pre-cleaner prevents rapid air filter blockage that can lead to insufficient air intake, increased fuel consumption, power drop and even engine fault codes.
Structural Design & Material Build
Manufactured to match original equipment dimensions and mounting specifications, the assembly is built for durability in outdoor construction conditions:
Transparent PC collection bowl: High-impact resistant polycarbonate material allows visual inspection of accumulated dust at a glance, so operators can judge cleaning timing without disassembly.
Reinforced plastic top cover: UV-stabilized engineering plastic top cap with twist-release design, enabling fast disassembly for regular cleaning and maintenance.
Built-in centrifugal impeller: Precision-molded cyclone vane structure generates high-speed rotating airflow to throw solid particles outward into the collection bowl by centrifugal force, with no moving wearing parts inside.
Stainless steel hose clamp: Corrosion-resistant clamp ensures tight and reliable connection with the air intake pipe, preventing unfiltered air leakage under vibration conditions.
Sealing structure: Integrated rubber sealing ring between the bowl and upper housing guarantees airtight performance under normal working pressure.
Working Principle
This unit operates on inertial centrifugal separation principle. When incoming air enters the pre-cleaner, the internal vane structure forces the airflow to rotate rapidly. Heavier dust and sand particles are thrown to the inner wall by centrifugal force and fall into the lower collection bowl, while the pre-cleaned air flows downward into the main air filter for secondary fine filtration. The whole process requires no power supply and works passively along with engine intake suction.
Fitment & Installation
It is dimensionally interchangeable with the factory pre-cleaner of Hyundai R55 and R60-7 series mini excavators, matching the original air intake pipe diameter and mounting position. No modification, drilling or additional adapters are required for installation. It can also be retrofitted to other 5-6 ton class compact excavators with the same intake caliber as an upgrade for dusty working conditions.
Maintenance Guidance
Check dust accumulation inside the transparent bowl regularly according to site dust conditions. Empty and clean the collection bowl when dust reaches the marked level. Wipe the inner wall and impeller with clean air during each main filter replacement to keep separation efficiency. Replace the sealing ring if aging or cracking is found to maintain airtight performance.
